The Cottage School is proud to be a member of The Alternative Education Resource Organization (AERO).

AERO is the primary hub of communications and support for educational alternatives around the world. Their network includes Montessori, Waldorf (Steiner), Public Choice and At-Risk, Democratic, Homeschool, Open, Charter, Free, Sudbury, Holistic, Virtual, Magnet, Early Childhood, Reggio Emilia, Indigo, Krishnamurti, Quaker, Libertarian, Independent, Progressive, Community, Cooperative, and Unschooling.

As a member of AERO, The Cottage School joins voices with schools and individuals around the world who are part of a change in education.

The Cottage School’s unique educational model fosters the children’s spirit of discovery to sustain their innate abilities and passion for learning. We teach through immersion while creating a non-competitive environment where creativity and the joy for learning are nurtured. We celebrate each student as an individual. We consider each child’s individual needs, desires, passions and way of learning and we honor all areas of the child’s development: physical, social-affective and cognitive. We respect their natural development and pace so that our children learn organically.

We are so grateful that, through AERO, we are internationally connected to like-minded educators and schools who realize how important, and necessary this teacher-pupil relationship-centered approach to education is.

Robotics Program at The Cottage School!

IMG_4748.jpg

We're excited to introduce a new six week Robotics Program to our Elementary students, with the help of the Peapack-Gladstone Library. Our first session was on Monday, March 25th, and the students were thrilled throughout their initial encounters with the robots.

Below are some details on the program:

  • Each class will be approximately 45 minutes

  • They will start by learning basic movements forward and backward, left and right.

  • They will progress by teaching the robot how to do multiple sequences of maneuvers.

  • Overtime they will teach the robot to navigate through the story map. The story map will be based on our school play. They will program the robot to navigate a map that visits the different ecosystems: the Antarctic, the Sahara desert, the rain forest and, a coral reef.
